Together We Rise

Together We Rise – Carn the Blues!

It’s been another interesting summer. The acquisition of Judd thanks to Greg Swann, and Judd subsequently being appointed captain. I have utmost faith is his leadership capabilities, and even more so in his skills as a footballer.

Ratts has shown some promise with a new game plan, adding his first wins to his coaching record, I hold this man in high esteem, both as a leader, and as a tactician.

The list is another year older, this season will see Bryce Gibbs and Marc Murphy develop both mentally and physically into elite midfielders.

With some luck we will see the o’hAilpin Brothers run out together wearing the CFC monogram, doing both AFL fans and their Irish counterparts proud. The question is, will Shields follow in the footsteps of his Irish comrades? Maybe not until 2009…

Older team members in Carrazzo, Scotland, Simpson, Stevens, Waite, Houlihan, Thornton, Bentick and Bannister must be snapping at the bit to get themselves into the 8 this season, given the 7 year finals campaign drought.

Some new arrivals in Armfield, Pfeiffer and the acclaimed Kreuzer along with other club established youngsters in Hampson, Bower, Jamison, Austin, Jackson, Benjamin, Blackwell, Edwards, Anderson and Grigg will show the depth we have developed during the dark times of yesteryear.

The tables have turned and the bottom 4 is nothing more than a relic of the past. 2008 will see the start of the return of the league’s most powerful and successful club.

I can only hope that Brendan Fevola will respect himself this season, and show himself and all that he is one of, if not, the best Full Forward in the competition.

Onwards, and upwards.

We are the Navy Blues.

PS: Thanks Dick 🙂

Flying Lesson @ Murrayfield Aerodrome 3

The day I am a true nerd, is the day I start blogging more than once a month.

The latest experience worthy of blogging is my first flying lesson I had at the Murrayfield Aerodrome on Saturday February 16, 2008.

Andy Jones @ Murrayfield Aerodrome

I arrived at the Murrayfield Aerodrome at 13:45, ready for the lesson. We sat in the hangar waiting room with another family who had bought their Dad / husband a flying lesson for his birthday. A good 10 minutes after sitting down, the Cessna 152 was commencing its landing and before I knew it, I was sitting with my instructor / co-pilot Dave, as he briefed me on the basic operation of the aircraft.

It was time to fly, so we headed out to the Cessna 152.

Andy Jones - standard pose :P

Dave went through a big checklist as I taxied the Cessna away from the hangar area to the start of the runway.

Remembering the theory taught in the briefing, I increased the throttle speed up to 55 knots and took off into the blazing afternoon sun.

We began to ascend, and headed out towards the Mandurah coast.

We reached 4,000 feet and Dave took over the controls to do some crazy aerobatics. He started with 2 loops which were awesome fun, and then he completed a few barrel rolls. The barrel rolls did me in, so he stopped the aerobatics and handed control of the plane back to me.

Dave had previously set some auto-altitude controls to hold us at around the 4,000 feet mark and let me have the plane to experiment with. I had a bit of a play rolling the plane on it’s Y axis, then we commenced our descent.

We landed at 14:35 and I was presented with my docket – which is a valid lesson should I wish to pursue a private licence.

I cannot wait to do it all again, it is a little pricey, but definitely worth the $$$.

I recommend the flying lesson to anyone.

Thanks to Dave for being such a terrific tutor, pity he’s a Richmond supporter :P.

WordPress Templates

I have decided that there’s only a small minority that look cool, so I’ll definitely be creating my own when I’m not so busy from freelance work…

Finally…

Finally… I buy myself my personal domain and install WordPress, it’s time to start the blogging 😉

I am off work today with an awful cold, it’s been doing the rounds at the office, I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many sick days recorded in one calendar year by a company’s employees. Any how, I’m off to see the Dr in an hour, not that there’s anything he can really do for me, except prescribe me with some better asthma meds… we’ll have to wait and see.

Well I think I’ll start designing a template for this blog as it’s bog standard at the moment.

Biff 😛
